2015 Fellows

The Turkish Cultural Foundation has awarded 10 scholars with its Academic Fellowship in Turkish Culture and Arts for the first term of 2015.

Ms. Alp was awarded the TCF Fellowship to present her paper "Italian Sculptors and Grave Statues in Istanbul of the 19th Century" at the 15th International Congress of Turkish Art, Naples, Italy, September 16-18, 2015.
İlknur Altın
Museum scholar, art historian and administrator of the Avadancı Storage Section at the Topkapı Palace Museum

Ms. Altın was awarded the TCF Fellowship to present her paper “Mescid-i Nebevi, Starting from Two Embroidered Panels at the Topkapı Palace” at the 15th International Congress of Turkish Art, Naples, Italy, September 16-18, 2015.

Museum scholar, archaeologist and administrator for the Sultan's Garments Section at the Topkapı Palace Museum

Ms. Arça was awarded the TCF Fellowship to present her paper “Italian Silks at the Topkapı Palace Museum” at the 15th International Congress of Turkish Art, Naples, Italy, September 16-18, 2015.
Emine Çiğdem Asrav

Ms. Asrav was awarded the TCF Fellowship to present her paper "Community Engagement in the Conservation of Historic Rural Landscapes" at the ICOMOS-IFLA ISCCL 2015 Annual Meeting International Symposium in Jeju, Korea, November 1-6, 2015.

Ms. Atbaş was awarded the TCF Fellowship to present her paper “A Bibliophile Collectioner: Halil Ethem Arda and His Collection at the Topkapı Palace Museum” at the 15th International Congress of Turkish Art, Naples, Italy, September 16-18, 2015.

Dr. Cimilli was awarded the TCF Fellowship to present her paper “A Study of epigraphs on a few lost structures, which are in the records of stone inscriptions registered in the Topkapı Palace Museum” at the International Culture, Art, Folklore Congress / Art Activities, Rostov-na-Donu, Russia, April 23-27, 2015.
Dr. Suraiya Faroqhi
Professor at the Department of History, Istanbul Bilgi University

Prof. Dr. Faroqhi was awarded the TCF Fellowship to publish her book entitled “A Cultural History of the Ottomans: The Imperial Elite and its Artefacts.”
Velika Ivkovska
Ph.D. candidate at Istanbul Technical University, Department of Architecture

Ms. Ivkovska was awarded the TCF Fellowship to present her paper "Comparative Analysis between the Istanbul House Plan Types and the Plan Types of the Ottoman Houses on the Panagia District in Kavala, Greece" at the International Conference on Architecture and Spatial Planning, Durres, Albania,  November 6-7, 2015.
Dr. Muzaffer Özgüleş

Dr. Özgüleş was awarded the TCF Fellowship to present his paper “Two Lost Churches, Two Lost Mosques: The Conversion of Last Latin Churches in Chios in 1695” at the 15th International Congress of Turkish Art, Naples, Italy, September 16-18, 2015.
Ömür Tufan
Archaeologist and chief curator of the Department of Ottoman and European Glasses & Porcelain at the Topkapı Palace Museum

Mr. Tufan was awarded the TCF Fellowship to present his paper “Traditional Ottoman Palace Art surviving in Modern Turkish Porcelain Art” at the 15th International Congress of Turkish Art, Naples, Italy, September 16-18, 2015.
