Poet and writer Nurduran Duman (TCF Cultural Exchange Fellow - 2016) participated in ‘Struga Poetry Evenings’, the world’s oldest international poetry festival, in Macedonia on August 23-28, 2017. She was also invited to Versopolis night on August 24-25, 2017, where she had the opportunity to read her poetry to an international audience. The aim of the Versopolis poetry project is to create a unique, Europe-wide platform that gives emerging European poets the chance to become international poetry stars. Versopolis encompasses renowned literary festivals and aims to expose, connect, and bring the finest poetry closer to audiences.
Nurduran Duman’s poem “The River” (translated by UK poet Karen McCarthy Woolf) was published in Modern Poetry in Translation (MPT) a journal of poetry in translation published in the United Kingdom. MPT was founded in 1965 by Ted Hughes and Daniel Weissbort and is widely recognized as one of the leading English-language translation publications in the world.
